To put an end to homelessness in Kern County through collaborative planning and action.
The KCHC is designated as the Bakersfield / Kern County CA-604 Continuum of Care, designed to promote communitywide commitment to the goal of ending homelessness; provide funding for efforts by nonprofit providers, and state and local governments to quickly rehouse homeless individuals and families while minimizing the trauma and dislocation caused to homeless individuals, families, and communities by homelessness. They exist to promote access to and effective utilization of mainstream programs by homeless individuals and families; and optimize self-sufficiency among individuals and families experiencing homelessness.
Voting members of the KCHC are eligible to participate in the consolidated application process for funds e.g. US Housing and Urban Development, State of California Housing and Community Development Emergency Solutions Grants.
